Like most schools, Friedens Sunday School begins in September. Our teachers are Julie Kirchner and Justin Rasmussen. Sunday School is open to ALL children during the school year. The children sing for church services at various times as well as the children’s Christmas Pageant, which takes place on Christmas Eve.

Our Sunday school class may be small, (not all children pictured) but the kids have big hearts and imaginations and are eager to learn. A six year old once asked a question about Jesus' birth, and it had to be explained that Jesus had lived in heaven before he came to this earth and now lives there again. This was followed by the explanation that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are three beings in one. I do believe that this young boy understood.

"Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young."
1st Timothy 4:12

We begin by reviewing the previous week’s lesson and reciting the Apostles' Creed. The children then divide into their different groups to learn that day's lesson.

After reading the story, the younger children like to get creative, and spend any extra time crafting or playing games. The older kids have deeper lessons which require more time for reading and questioning.

Usually 30-45 minutes are spent in the classrooms, and then they meet again in the main basement room to go over the lesson. This is also when we practice any songs to be sung in church in the future. We then close with the Lord's Prayer.

"Train a child the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6

We have confirmation classes for 7th & 8th grade children. Adult confirmation classes are also available to anyone interested.
